HOW AN ILLUSTRATED BOOK COMES ABOUT *

The original Stories of Children’s storyboards will be studied specifically in terms of the relationship between content and textual and illustrative composition. Next will be the workshop phase focusing on understanding how an illustrated story is born. The artist herself, Letizia Galli, will unveil the secrets of this art! We will watch as her hand gives life to the characters, positions them on the paper and within a scene, before then dressing them, colouring them in, and uniting them with the words. No doubt, everyone will want to have a go! We will illustrate the Stories of Children in Venice too!

AGATA… AND THEN

During the visit to the exhibition, the reading of the stories will serve to establish a dialogic workshop, together with the students, focusing on social issues that emerge also in relation to the cultural context of the Institute of the Pietà and the city of Venice. Depending on the cultural focus of the visiting class, a variety of focal points can be chosen, upon which to open the dialogue and seek out our Agata of today.

BETWEEN NARRATION, ART AND ANCIENT CRAFTS

Commencing with the apprenticeship of the young Michelangelo and Leonardo, resulting in the emergence of two absolute geniuses. Are the Venetian artisans also artists themselves?
The Stories of Children exhibition takes you back in time to learn about the lives of two great artists, Michelangelo and Leonardo, as told by the artist Letizia Galli. From the apprenticeship of the two absolute geniuses in Italian art, the narration will lead you to an encounter with a Venetian artisan, his skilled hands and his useful and simultaneously beautiful works. In particular, it will be an experience replete with colours, perfumes and expressions in the workshop of the oarmaker, the producer of the Fórcole – a typical Venetian rowlock – and other objects carved in wood, with harmonious and indispensable forms for guiding Venetian boats.

A visit that leads to the discovery of characters and secrets that render the lagoon city so unique and which will reflect on the differences and similarities between artisans and artists.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Reservation: obligatory at least 48 hrs prior, with groups of min. 12 and max. 18 persons
Cost: €15 per person, including entrance to the exhibition and visit to the workshop
